The Disassociates Omaha Concert reviews
A change for the worse
In all fairness, the audience was heavy on the geriatric; few people actually wanted to stand up and applaud, much less dance. The Disassociates played with little vigor and no interaction with the audience. Ms. Monet (sp?), his female backup, conveyed fabulous energy from the stage. I question whether someone they knew died that day. The venue should be considered as well. His opening act was WAY better in terms of engaging the audience. The security team was quick to ask you to sit down if you wanted to dance during the show but were nowhere in sight to help you out standing for 2 hours before the show while hoards of people skipped in front of you and pushed like cattle from behind. If this remains his style, I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Making concert attendees stand there waiting between the people dining at the restaurant going to and from the buffet line is a negative for BOTH parties. There is only one area for bathrooms near the front lobby: all hotel patrons, diners, bar folk, and concert-goers must use these facilities. Now, if this was the first time I had seen him, I wouldn't go again. I have seen The Disassociates twice before (and a third time with Dukes of September) and this was a terrible example of his demeanor and range of music. She saved him a star in my ranking. So I gave The Disassociates back a star thinking maybe he realized the audience was lame and couldn't play to a dead audience. Knowing what I know of his talent, I will try him again in the future. And I was in the third row!
